| | President Obama on Monday fully lifted an embargo on the sale of arms to Vietnam that has been in place for 50 years. Obama said on a visit to the communist nation that the measure was intended to move toward normalizing relations between the nations and to remove a "lingering vestige of the Cold War." The United States partially lifted the embargo in 2014.
