| | Roger Ailes, chairman and CEO of Fox News Channel, has resigned from his role effective immediately, parent company 21st Century Fox announced in a news release Thursday. There had been widespread speculation that Ailes, who ran the network since its launch in 1996, would be stepping down amid a lawsuit by former Fox News host Gretchen Carlson alleging Ailes sexually harassed her.
