BREAKING: Obama says America is not on the verge of collapse, despite rhetoric at GOP convention

  The idea that America is on the verge of collapse doesn't jibe with the experience of most Americans, President Obama said at a news conference Friday. He said he'll let the American people determine how well the Republicans made their case at their convention in Cleveland this week. Appearing with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, Obama said the violent crime rate in America has been lower during his presidency than at any time in the last three or four decades.
