The Republican convention rolled through its third rocky, unpredictable night on Wednesday. The highlights: 1. Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence took the stage, called for unity and gave the nation a sense of who he is. The Indiana governor handled his speech well and delivered his trademark line: "I'm a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order." 2. Ted Cruz refused to endorse Donald Trump, saying everyone should "vote your conscience." He was booed and heckled. 3. A Trump aide took responsibility for the controversy over Melania Trump's speech, - which was partly lifted from a prior Michelle Obama speech - saying she offered to resign but Trump rejected it. Follow USA TODAY's coverage as the event heads into its final day.
