| | Fashion designer Sonia Rykiel has died at age 86, French President Francois Hollande's office said Thursday. Hollande praised Rykiel, who opened her first ready-to-wear shop on Paris' Left Bank in 1968 and whose striped sweaters helped liberate women from suits, as "a pioneer" who "offered women freedom of movement" in a statement.
