| | The Centers for Disease Control is keeping secret large swaths of information about dozens of recent lab mishaps involving some of the world's most dangerous bacteria and viruses, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY in an ongoing effort to unveil safety issues long shielded from public view. The heavily redacted documents USA TODAY obtained show that CDC scientists apparently lost a box of deadly and highly regulated influenza specimens and experienced multiple other potential exposures involving viruses and bacteria.
