  In his inaugural address, President Trump portrayed the U.S. as a nation in decline, but the violent crime rate in 2015 was less than half what it was at its peak in 1991. And he inherits an economy that has gained jobs for a record 75 straight months and has an unemployment rate well below the historical norm.
