| | The Congressional Budget Office concluded Wednesday that changes made before final passage of the House health care bill May 4 reduced the number of people who would be uninsured by 2026 while also trimming $32 billion off the net deficit reduction the bill would achieve. The report also concluded that about 23 million fewer people would have coverage under the House-passed bill by 2026 than under current law, down from the 24 million estimate that CBO made for the earlier House draft. CBO also notes that people may also purchase low-cost insurance that does not cover major medical risks, which the office does not count as coverage.
