BREAKING: U.S. median household income rose 3.2% to $59,039 in 2016; the nation's poverty rate fell 0.8 percentage points to 12.7%

  This is the second straight year of annual increases in median household income, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The number of people in poverty fell 2.5 million to 40.6 million in 2016 and the number of people without health insurance coverage dropped to 28.1 million from 29.0 million
